James P. Lung, age 66, of Sturgis, passed away early Sunday morning, May 10, 2026, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. He was born April 18, 1960 in LaGrange, son of the late Larry L. and Pearlee (Gray) Lung.
Jim resided most of his life in Sturgis and was a proud graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1979.
On June 24, 1989, he married the love of his life, Tina Schrader, in Sturgis. Together they shared nearly 37 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and countless cherished memories.
Jim was employed at Morgan Olson in Sturgis for over 47 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic and the many friendships he built throughout the years.
Jim had a lifelong passion for racing and took great pride in being part of Fred and Tom Edwards’ race teams. He truly enjoyed spending time with his racing family and work buddies, sharing stories, laughter, and camaraderie. He also enjoyed model railroading, a hobby that reflected his patience, creativity, and attention to detail.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Tina Lung of Sturgis; nieces: Crystal Flanagan of Indianapolis and Cindi VanWinkle of South Bend; and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Flanagan.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 Thursday, May 14th at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of James P. Lung will immediately follow the visitation at 3:00 at the funeral home. Pastor Bill Couchenour of Sturgis Church of the Nazarene will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
