Joshua Edward Gilbo Carr, age 40, of Burr Oak, passed away Thursday evening, April 30, 2026, at the Sturgis Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born May 14, 1985 in Kalamazoo, the son of Lori Gilbo. Joshua spent his entire life in the Sturgis and Burr Oak area.
Joshua attended Pathfinder Center and Adapt Day Care, where he formed meaningful connections and was cared for with compassion. He found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially watching television. He had a particular fondness for cooking shows and game shows, and he truly loved the original Sister Act movie, which brought him much happiness and comfort.
He is survived by his adopted mother, Carole Carr of Burr Oak; his birth mother, Lori Gilbo of Burr Oak; his sister, Amanda Gilbo of Sturgis; his grandmother, Sheryl Benjamin of Sturgis; his nephew, Clayton Carr of Burr Oak; and his uncles, James (Kristal) Jourdan of Bronson, Bill (Lori) Jourdan of Angola, Indiana, and Mike Benjamin of Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mike Benjamin.
In honoring Joshua’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned.
