Dowagiac residents file suit against data center

Neighbors near Dowagiac’s Hyperscale data center have filed a federal class-action lawsuit against owners of Hyperscale Data, “Alliance Cloud Services.”

According to WSBT, neighbors are making strides to stop what they say is a perpetual noise emitting from the center.

Neighbors have said they hear a constant humming sound detectable even from inside their homes. The perpetual sound is created by cooling systems and fans within the data center.

The lawsuit alleges the company has failed to follow proper industrial practices to prevent the offsite emission of noise. Many neighbors want a solution, and they hope the suit will encourage the company to make adjustments, according to WSBT.

The Hyperscale Data Center has been in operation for four years.

All of the residents impacted live within a mile of the Hyperscale Data Center, making changes in their daily lives because of the noise.
