Raymond D. Hill, age 93, of Mottville Township, White Pigeon, died on Thursday, May 25,2017, in Battle Creek following a short illness.
He was born on May 27, 1923, in in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Urbin and Effie Jane (Ray) Hill. He was a Mottville area resident since 1973, coming from Goshen.
A Veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific. He was a fireman for the Goshen City Fire Department for 20 years and retired in 1970 as a captain service manager for Alcona Homes and a truckdriver.
He was a member of The DAV # 15, VFW #985 and The Constantine American Legion # 223.
He married Helen I Vance on Aug. 6, 1943, in Goshen. She died on Nov. 1, 2011.
He is survived by two sons, Douglas (Sandra) Hill and Donald (Nancy) Hill of White Pigeon; 16 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Dennis; and eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon where services will be held at 2 p.m. Full Military Rites and burial will follow in Mottville Township Cemetery
