Eugene Proctor, 78

Eugene LeRoy Proctor, age 78, of Elkhart, passed to his rest Feb. 16, 2018, at Elkhart General Hospital, after a brief illness.
He was born March 28, 1939, in St. Joseph County, Mich., a son of Roy William and Lucille (Coon) Proctor. He had lived in the Michiana area all his life.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1961- 1964, taking care of Army equipment. He retired from Gurley-Leep (formerly) Putnam Imports as a Volkswagen auto technician.
On July 12, 1959, Eugene married Beverly Jean Parish in Sturgis. She survives, along with their children, Kenneth Eugene (Laura) Proctor of Elkhart and Janine Lynne (Troy) Reynolds of Centreville. There are three grandchildren, Dawn Proctor, Trenton Reynolds and Brady Reynolds. Also four siblings, Dennis (Cheryl) Proctor of Elkhart, Michael Proctor of Sturgis, Steven (Karen) Proctor of Elkhart and Joyce Proctor of Edwardsburg.
Family who have preceded him in passing are his parents; a brother, Wayne Proctor; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Proctor.
Family and friends may gather 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Road, Edwardsburg, for visitation. The funeral service of remembrance will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Edwardsburg American Legion, 25751 U.S.12 E., where all may gather for one hour before the service. Officiating is the Rev. Scott Otis, pastor of the church. Interment will follow at Adamsville Cemetery, with the U.S. Army Honor Guard playing Taps and folding the American flag.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family.
