Patricia A. Mow, age 88, of Portage, and a former Sturgis resident, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, May 7, 2018, at the Borgess Medical Center emergency room in Kalamazoo.
She was born May 6, 1930, in Fawn River Township, a daughter of the late George Porter and Loraine (Teal) Stauffer. Pat was raised by her mother and stepfather Loraine and Herman Krueger.
Pat resided many years in Sturgis. For the past 11 years, she had made her home in Portage and she lived 10 years in Punta Gorda, Fla.
On July 1, 1948, she married Victor W. “Soup” Mow in Sturgis. He died Dec. 3, 1986.
Pat retired from Sturgis Bank and Trust in Sturgis, following 20 years of dedicated employment.
She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1948. Pat enjoyed reading, bowling, shopping, traveling and loved family gatherings.
Pat is survived by a daughter, Michelle Adams of Lawton; three sons, Michael Mow of Punta Gorda, Fla., Mark (Rhonda) Mow of Croghan, N.Y., and James Mow of Baldwin; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon (Krueger) Pesti of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Eric Mow, on Dec. 31, 2017.
In accordance with her wishes and keeping with Pat’s giving spirit, she was a donor for Gift of Life, and cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and the burial of ashes will take place at noon Thursday, May 17, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Deacon Jack Pendergast of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Portage will officiate.
