Terry Burgess, 69

Terry L. Burgess, age 69, of Union, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, September 29, 2025 at the Esther’s House, Center of Hospice Care. His devotion to Christ leaves behind a legacy of love of others, service to community and public education, and a quiet strength that touched countless lives.

Terry was born on April 29, 1956 in Elkhart to Roy and Eva (Powell) Burgess. He graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1974, and Michigan Christian College in 1976. Terry worked at Lozier Corp. in Middlebury as a transportation supervisor, retiring in 2021 after 15 years. Terry was a former Board of Education President and served for 15 years for Constantine Public Schools. He has been a strong advocate and proud Constantine supporter throughout his life. His love for students, athletes, families, and staff showed through his dedication in many volunteer hours, service on the board, and even making sure our youngsters crossed safely at Riverside. One of Terry’s greatest joys was coaching youth baseball. He cherished his years at Osolo Little League coaching his son and nephew’s team, Roy’s Boy’s, his fathers business sponsored team. Terry also coached for Constantine at the Varsity and Big League level. On the field he taught more than the game. He instilled values, teamwork, integrity, and left an indelible mark on a generation of players. One of Terry’s favorite pastimes was playing Santa’s helper for several years at the Bonine House, Underground Railroad Society Museum, Vandalia.
