Georgia Edwards, 86

Georgia Elizabeth Edwards, age 86, of Sturgis, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, October 6, 2025, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo.

She was born February 3, 1939 in Pontiac, Michigan, to the late Emma Hayaz.

Georgia made her home in the Sturgis area for most of her life and was a proud graduate of Bronson High School with the class of 1957. That same year, she married the love of her life, Clifford Fred Edwards, in Coldwater. The two shared a wonderful life together until his passing on July 28, 2024.

For many years, Georgia was employed at Paramount Furniture Company in Sturgis, where she worked as an upholsterer. She was a longtime member of Fish Lake Bible Church in Sturgis, where her faith was an important part of her life.

Georgia was a woman of many talents and interests. She was proud to have earned her student private pilot’s license and successfully completed her solo flight. She also had a deep appreciation for art and loved spending time painting and drawing.

She will be lovingly remembered by her grandson, James Edwards of Sturgis; and cousins Harold “Bud” (Karen) Everett of Nixa, Missouri, Loren (Mary) Everett of Grand Prairie, Texas, Rozann (Mike) Hickey of Springfield, Missouri, Sharon (Bob) Ginn of Hartland, Wisconsin, and Robert (Vickie) Everett of Douglasville, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Penny Jo Edwards and Rose Marie Edwards; and son, Randy Lee Edwards.

In honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Georgia Elizabeth Edwards will be held Friday, October 10th, at 11:00 A.M. at Fish Lake Bible Church, 25108 Banker Street Road, Sturgis. The Rev. Timothy Stover will officiate. A continued time of fellowship and the sharing of a meal will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
