A 21-year-old man died in what investigators are calling a hit-and-run incident over the weekend in Burr Oak Township.
Sheriff Chad Spence said deputies were called shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday to an area on U.S. 12 and Burr Oak Road regarding an unresponsive subject located along the roadside.
Emergency medical personnel determined the man was deceased after apparently being struck by a vehicle. The victim has been identified as Kayden Gruver.
Investigators are seeking assistance from the public in identifying the vehicle involved, believed to be a 2007–2015 GMC Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado pickup with front-end, passenger-side damage.
Anyone who had contact with Gruver prior to or the morning of the incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s department. Additionally, residents and businesses in the area are asked to review any available camera or surveillance footage from the time of the incident.
