Vicksburg man sentenced in boy’s death

A Vicksburg man was sentenced to at least seven years in prison for his role in the death of a 10-year-old boy last year in Sherman Township.

St. Joseph County Circuit Court Judge Paul Stutesman last week sentenced Logan Thomas on a charge of operating while intoxicated causing death as a habitual fourth offender, according to court officials.

Thomas, 30, pleaded guilty in November following the December 2024 incident that killed Anthony Miller. Miller was riding a bicycle to school when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Thomas, according to prosecutor Deb Davis.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours Dec. 2 as Thomas was driving west on Banker Street.

Authorities said Thomas, who had a record of three previous felonies, was found to be under the influence of meth, authorities said.
