Cheryl Miller, 64

Cheryl L. Miller, age 64, of LaGrange, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at her residence, with her beloved husband, Bud, and her faithful dog, Eddie, by her side.

She was born on November 16, 1961 in LaGrange to Jack Lewis and Nyla L. (Burroughs) Olds.

Cheryl was a lifelong resident of LaGrange County and was raised on a farm, where her strong work ethic and deep love for animals were first nurtured. She graduated from Lakeland High School with the Class of 1980.

Her passion for animals shaped her life’s work. Cheryl served for more than 20 years as a veterinary assistant for Dr. Steven Knight at Northside Veterinary Clinic in LaGrange, where she was known for her compassion, skill, and gentle care. She was most recently employed at Lake Area Veterinary Group in Sturgis, continuing to do what she loved—helping animals and the people who loved them.

Outside of work, Cheryl enjoyed life with enthusiasm and heart. She loved Jeeps, was a devoted New York Yankees fan, and cherished her pets—especially her dog, Eddie, and her cats, Elvis and Betty, who were truly family to her.

On November 3, 1990, Cheryl married the love of her life, Kenton E. “Bud” Miller, in an intimate ceremony in front of the fireplace in her father Jack Olds’ living room—a moment that perfectly reflected her warmth and love for family.

Cheryl was an active member of the LaGrange American Legion Post #215 Auxiliary and found great meaning in volunteering with the Veterans Headstone Project, helping place flags on veterans’ graves in honor of Memorial Day. Her respect for service and remembrance was heartfelt and sincere.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bud Miller of LaGrange; her daughters, Courtney (Matt) Williams of Corunna, Indiana, and Kara (Josh) Rees of Carmel, Indiana; her son, Juston (Ashley) Miller of Norfolk, Virginia; and her four cherished grandchildren, Annalynn Williams, Waylon Rees, Willow Rees, and Lillian Miller. She is also survived by her stepmother, Maryjo Olds of Sturgis; and her uncle, Gordon (Lynne) Olds of LaGrange.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Nyla Olds, and her uncles, Roger Olds and Robert Burroughs.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan Street, LaGrange, Indiana. Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Cheryl will be laid to rest later in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cheryl’s memory to Lake Area Veterinary Group, 25232 West Chicago Road, Sturgis, Michigan 49091.
