Elma D. Bontrager-Troyer, age 83, of Centreville, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. She was born in Nottawa Township on September 16, 1942, the daughter of Dan Jr. and Lydia (Miller) Bontrager. She was married to Alvin Troyer on October 28, 1965 and they lived in holy matrimony for 52 years until Alvin’s passing in 2018.
To this union were born 14 children; Magdalena (Lamar) Bontrager, Mary (Paul) Bontrager, Esther (Neal) Mast, Martha (Henry) Hochstetler, Ruth (Aden) Miller, Sarah (James) Detwiler, Miriam (passed at age 2), Jonathan (Edna) Troyer, Jonas (Loretta) Troyer, Lydiann Troyer, Henry (Malinda) Troyer, Polly (Albert) Hertzler, Rachel (Reuben) Yoder, Anna Troyer (passed in 2023); 46 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren.
Elma was preceded in passing by her husband, Alvin Troyer; two daughters, Miriam and Anna Troyer; and 1 granddaughter.
Family and friends will be received after 2pm on Thursday, January 8, 2026 all day and Friday, January 9, 2026 all day at the Community Youth Center (CYC) 59321 Nottawa Road, Centreville. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the CYC, with Bishop Arden Borkholder officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Order Amish Cemetery on Truckenmiller Road. Assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon, MI.
