Colon Township Fire Chief Matt Overholt said personnel from the agency rescued a dog that had fallen through ice earlier this week near Long Lake Road.
Overholt said firefighters were called shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday to a channel that feeds into Long Lake.
Firefighters used a rescue rope to retrieve the dog, which was visiting relatives in the area and apparently not familiar with ice-related hazards, Overholt said.
