Alice L. Marvin, age 95, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Sturgis Hospital.
She was born July 16, 1930 in Dowagiac to Elvyn L. and Frances (Mumby) King.
On January 28, 1950 in St. Joseph County, she married Archie Eugene “Gene” Gage, who preceded her in death on May 5, 1988. Later, on January 22, 1994, Alice married Garner L. Marvin in Howe, Indiana. They shared 11 years together before his passing on May 13, 2005.
In 1950, Alice moved to the LaGrange area, where she devoted herself to raising her family and building a life grounded in hard work and care for others.
Alice was a talented and resourceful homemaker. While raising her children, she operated a furniture reupholstering business from her home, allowing her to care for her family while contributing to their livelihood. After her children were older, she worked outside the home as produce manager at Purity Supermarket in LaGrange.
Adventurous and active, Alice enjoyed snow skiing and proudly taught her grandchildren how to ski. She was an avid golfer, playing well into her later years. She was also a member of the LaGrange American Legion Post #215 Auxiliary and enjoyed many years of worship at the LaGrange First Church of God, where her faith remained an important part of her life.
Surviving are her children: Kathy (Phillip) Gallup of Fort Wayne; Connie Gochenaur of Shipshewana; Dr. Tracy (Lou) Carmellini of West Chester, Pennsylvania; and Steve (LuAnn) Gage of Howe, Indiana; and a son-in-law, Kraig Keenan of LaGrange; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a daughter, Judith L. Keenan (August 14, 2002); a son-in-law, Jon L. Gochenaur; a sister, Lois Widder; and three brothers, John King, Howard King, and Richard King.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan Street, LaGrange, Indiana, with Pastor Rich Laskowski officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange, Indiana. Visitation will take place Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
