Larry Lantz, 77

Larry L. Lantz, a cherished soul known for his warm smile and handyman skills, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026 in Kalamazoo at the age of 77. Born on May 16, 1948 in Sturgis, to the late Norman and Betty Lantz of White Pigeon, Larry’s early years were filled with the love and support of his devoted family.

A proud graduate of the White Pigeon High School Class of 1966, Larry’s dedication to his education was a prelude to the commitment he would later show in all aspects of his life. Following high school, he bravely served his country for two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict, an experience that would shape his strong values and sense of responsibility.

After his honorable discharge, Larry began a fulfilling career that would span over three and a half decades at Coachman Industries in Middlebury. His colleagues knew him as a loyal and hardworking individual who took pride in his contributions to the company.

Larry’s personal life was equally rich. He found love and companionship twice, first marrying Janet Hayes of Elkhart, and then in 1985, he married Diane Lacy, with whom he shared many of life’s greatest joys and challenges. Together, they navigated the waters of life with unwavering partnership and affection, while enjoying the home he built on Lake Templene.

An avid outdoorsman, Larry’s passion for deer hunting, fishing, boating, and riding his jet ski was well known among his friends and family. His love for the outdoors was only matched by his incredible ability to fix anything that came his way. His hands were seldom idle, and many will remember him for the countless times he lent his skills to help others.

Surviving are his wife Diane Lantz, Sturgis, sons Ryan (Jenny) Lantz, Elkhart,  Troy (Jamie) Lantz, Durham, NC,  step children Michelle (Lisa) Vedmore-Lacy, Three Rivers,  Jonathan (Barbie) Lacy, Elwell, MI,  12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a brother David (Mitzi) Lantz, Commerce, GA.
