St. Joseph County Sheriff Chad Spence said a Three Rivers-area woman died over the weekend after the camper she was in caught fire in Lockport Township.
Spence said emergency personnel were dispatched late Friday to the 57000 block of Mitchell Street, located adjacent to Three Rivers Municipal Airport.
Fire personnel arrived on scene to find the camper fully engulfed. Backup help was requested after it was established a person was still inside the camper.
Despite their best efforts, emergency workers were unable to save the woman. She was pronounced deceased at the scene, Spence said.
More details, including the woman’s age and home town, are to be released today, Spence said.
