Highway project – US-131 at I-94

Michigan Department of Transportation is starting a major project today in Kalamazoo County in the area of I-94 and U.S. 131.

MDOT’s Nick Schirripa said work centers on an auxiliary lane on northbound 131, between I-94 and Stadium Drive.

In addition, the project involves widening ramps and other improvements at the 131/I-94 interchange, Schirripa said.

The $13.4 million project is expected to be completed in September.

Schirripa said an auxiliary lane is a temporary lane continuous typically between two consecutive interchanges connecting a highway on-ramp to the following off-ramp.
