Wayne Wyatt, Sr.,77

Wayne Lee Wyatt, Sr., age 77, of Centreville, passed away Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026, at Centrica Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo.

He was born March 25, 1949 in Sturgis, son of the late Arthur R. and Kathleen (Randall) Wyatt.

Wayne resided in Centreville since 1996, coming from Burr Oak, and was a graduate of Colon High School with the class of 1967. On May 4, 1968, he married Kathleen Ann Snyder in Colon. She preceded him in death on July 13, 1996.

In his early years, Wayne worked on the neighbor’s farm. From 1967–1977, he was employed with several manufactured housing companies in the area. In 1977, he began a long career with Viking RV in Centreville, where he worked until 2002, serving the last 15 years as plant manager. In 2002, he accepted the position of plant manager with Starcraft RV in Topeka, Indiana, retiring in 2009. Wayne was also proud to have served his community as a police officer and detective sergeant with the Burr Oak Police Department from 1972–1980.

Wayne was a member of the Gold Wing Touring Association and enjoyed playing men’s softball for several years. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, especially deer hunting. For many years, he traveled out west in pursuit of deer and cherished the time spent at the family property and cabin in Reed City. Wayne was known for his love of his many “toys,” taking great pride in caring for and polishing his Corvettes, motorcycles, side-by-sides, and tractors.

He is survived by his son, Wayne (Shannon) Wyatt, Jr. of Sturgis; grandchildren, Lance (Kascee) Wyatt of Jones, Logan (Andy) Wyatt-Elder of Denver, Colorado, Morgan Bowers and Madison Bowers, both of Sturgis; great-grandchildren, Easton Wyatt and Hadley Wyatt; his significant other of 10 years, Vicki Garnaat of Kalamazoo; brother, Arthur (Suzanne) Wyatt of Granger, Indiana; sister, Carol Ann Wooster of Orland, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, Floyd Wyatt; and sisters, Karen Drake and Marcella McGlothlen.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 Friday, April 10th at Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Wayne Wyatt, Sr. will begin at 1:00 Saturday, April 11th at the funeral home. The Rev. Rodger Moyer will officiate. A graveside committal will follow at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
