The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced the long-term closure of a major intersection starting this weekend in Kalamazoo County.
MDOT’s Nick Schirripa said ongoing work involves the addition of an auxiliary lane on northbound U.S. 131 from I-94 to Stadium Drive.
The project moves into a new phase this weekend and, as a result, the northbound U.S. 131 ramp onto westbound I-94 will be closed. The posted detour is northbound U.S. 131 to eastbound I-94, then Oakland Drive north to westbound I-94.
Single-lane closures will continue on northbound U.S. 131, Schirripa said.
Completion of the $13.4 million project is expected in mid-September, with the westbound I-94 ramp closed until then.
