ISD board member to receive award

A member of the St. Joseph County Intermediate School District Board of Education will receive a high honor next month.

ISD Superintendent Teresa Belote said Liz O’Dell was announced as the recipient of the Master Platinum Award, the highest level of certification bestowed by the Michigan Association of School Boards.

The award recognizes board members who have gone above and beyond to improve their leadership skills through extensive training and education.

Its criteria include rigorous professional-development criteria, which generally includes a minimum of 813 education credits, completion of 19 advanced-level classes and completion of all five levels of the MASB curriculum.

A representative from MASB will present O’Dell with her award at the ISD’s May 18 meeting.
