Betty Robison, 98

Betty Jean Robison, age 98, of Sturgis, passed away on March 2, 2026 at The Laurels of Coldwater.

She was born on October 31, 1927 in White Pigeon, the daughter of the late Bertha Burdick.

Mrs. Robison resided most of her life in Sturgis. On October 16, 1965, she married Raymond D. Robison in Sturgis. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1979.

Betty was employed by Montgomery Ward in Sturgis for over 20 years until the closing of the store. She also worked for many years at the Salvation Store in Sturgis.

She was a longtime, devoted member of the Sturgis Salvation Army Church, where she was always willing to volunteer her time ringing bells during the Christmas season. Betty especially cherished her role as a foster grandmother and loved the many children she was blessed to know through that service.

She was active with the Commission on Aging and for several years performed with the Sweet Adelines, a pastime she greatly enjoyed.

Mrs. Robison is survived by her grandsons, Davey (Monica) Robison of Sturgis, Dale (Susie) Robison of Wakarusa, Indiana, and Ray Robison of Galesburg; 11 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and her step-daughter, Carol Root.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her step-children, Edith Harter, Violet Williams, Nila Robison, Linda Blough, Carolyn Holt, Dale Robison, Raymond A. Robison, and Ronnie Robison.

In honoring Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 on Saturday, April 25, at the Sturgis Salvation Army, 105 N. Fourth St., Sturgis. Following the service, family and friends are invited to remain for a time of fellowship, sharing of memories, and refreshments until 5:00. Private interment of her remains will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis has been entrusted with the arrangements.
