Roger West, 70

Roger K. West, age 70, of Byron Center and formerly of Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 17, 2026, at University of Michigan Health – West in Wyoming, Michigan.

Roger was born on June 29, 1955 in Sturgis, the son of the late Claude and Ruth (Kingsley) West.

He graduated from Sturgis High School with the Class of 1974 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University.

Roger was married to Calsie Lynn Yarrington, who preceded him in death.

He was a new member of the Kalamazoo Area Horseshoe Club and enjoyed throwing horseshoes. Roger also enjoyed bowling and participated in a bowling league. In his free time, he especially enjoyed walking his dog.

Roger is survived by his sisters, Betty Pranga of Sturgis and Barbara West of Johannesburg; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert West.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service at Lakeside Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
