A gracious and loving lady, Ann Dundek Gerst, age 99, of Decatur, Texas, passed from this earth to join her Heavenly Father on March 22, 2026, in Bridgeport, Texas.
Ann was born on October 13, 1926 in Chicago to Andrew Behro Dundek and Anna (Marko) Dundek, both of whom immigrated from Czechoslovakia around 1913 at the age of 18.
She was united in marriage to Howard Gerst in 1992 in Constantine. Ann was a devoted and hardworking woman who owned and operated a Baskin-Robbins for many years before retiring. She was a dearly beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, and she will be remembered for her kindness, grace, and love for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Anna Dundek; her first husband, Charles A. Holloway; her husband, Howard Gerst; her grandson, Jeffrey Connor; two brothers who passed at ages 3 and 4 during the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic in Chicago, and her older brother, John Dundek.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Sandy Bounds and husband Randy of Decatur, Texas, and Patricia Ann Connor of Bridgeport, Texas; her grandson, Robert Andrew Bounds, and great-grandson, Andrew Kyle Bounds, both of Decatur, Texas; and her stepchildren, Nora Allen and husband Neil of Beaverton, Oregon; Linda Batkins and husband Donald of Nashua, New Hampshire; Margaret Treece of Waynesboro, Virginia; and Dave Gerst and wife Joyce of Belleville, Michigan. She is also survived by seven step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest at Constantine Township Cemetery. No services are planned at this time.
