Jarod Mayer,47

Jarod Allyn Mayer, age 47, of Kansas City, Missouri, and a former resident of Bronson and Burr Oak, Michigan, passed away on April 27, 2026, at his home. A Celebration of Life for Jarod will be held at a later date.

He was born June 1, 1978 in Sturgis, son of Nile L. and Beverly L. (Arver) Mayer. Many special memories were made together with his brothers and cousins growing up on the gladiolus farm: playing baseball on the diamond in the field, basketball in the barn, spending time in the woods, hunting mushrooms, and building forts with his cousins and friends.

Jarod’s love of music began at a young age, singing with his brothers at Pleasant Hill Missionary Church. He became a talented drummer, guitarist, vocalist, and composer. Music was a constant in his life, operating recording studios and producing albums for his own bands, as well as many other musicians. He found both joy and expression through creating and performing, entertaining audiences with his energy and skill. He will forever be remembered by all who have had the opportunity to hear him play.

He was a graduate of Bronson High School with the Class of 1997 and furthered his education at Michigan State University in East Lansing, earning a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Jarod was artistically gifted, and with his engineering background, he especially enjoyed the years working alongside his father, Nile, building and remodeling homes for family and neighbors.

In 2010, Jarod pursued his engineering career in Kansas City, Missouri, where he developed a community of friends and continued his passion for music.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nile; grandparents, Truman and Winifred Arver, George and Myra Mayer; aunts, Monica (Hyska) Arver, and Beverly J. (Mayer) Harker.

He is survived by his mother, Beverly L. Mayer of Bronson; his son, Brandon Michael Nile Mayer, and Brandon’s mother, April Herman of Burr Oak; brothers, Jason (Angela M.) Mayer of Bronson and their children, Braedyn, Brooklyn, and Alyssa, Jacob (Candice) Mayer of Kokomo, Indiana and their children, Alden, Ashton T., Anabelle, Ashton L., and Alijah, Joshua (Angela T.) Mayer of Bronson and their children, Colton and Ava; as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

We have all loved and missed Jarod greatly during his years living and working away from Michigan. We trust in the faithfulness and promises of the Lord that one day we will all be together forever.

Memorial donations would be a blessing toward the future needs of his son, Brandon.

We encourage relatives and friends to share memories and condolences at www.hackmanfamilyfuneralhomes.com.
