A Cass County man was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison for an incident last year involving the theft of an emergency vehicle.
Court officials said Andy Freshour earlier this year entered a guilty plea agreement to all counts, including nine felony offenses.
He was sentenced to a minimum of 24 years in prison, plus an additional two years for seven felony firearm enhancements, with one year of jail time served.
Freshour was also sentenced three to 20 years for concealing a firearm, unlawful driving of a motor vehicle, fleeing a police officer, malicious destruction of police property and firearm possession by a prohibited person.
In addition, he was sentenced three to 15 years for larceny of a firearm and assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer.
Freshour’s sentences stem from a May 2025 incident, in which he evaded arrest after stealing a Cassopolis Police squad car. He was detained on unrelated charges for a drug-related probation violation. Freshour was eventually found in a swamp.
