Lou Seman, age 70, died January 20, 2010 in McAllen, Texas following heart surgery. He was the former principal at Three Rivers Middle School.
Seman was born Oct. 26, 1939 in Springfield, Ill. the son of Helen and Louis Seman. He graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield, attended Western Illinois University and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Illinois State University. He later attended Western Michigan University and Michigan State University.
He married Carole Jean Schopa on Dec. 29, 1962. “He was the best husband,” she said.
After teaching and serving as an assistant principal in Illinois, he came to Three Rivers to take the principal position. Following his retirement from there, he served as an interim principal one year each in Hartford, Niles and Colon.
He is survived by his wife, Carole of Three Rivers; children, Lou (Lisa), Gary (Elaine), Chris and George; 13 grandchildren, Morgan, Angela, Samantha, Zach, Erin, Josh, Reed, Bo, Kyle, Leah, Kevin, Hazel and Holly; one great-grandson, Landon; one brother, William; two sisters, Helen and Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alfred and Lester; one grandson, Jonathan.
Cremation has taken place; a memorial service will be held in Three Rivers in the spring. Memorials may be directed to the family.
