Lois Jean (Jeanne) Snodgrass, age 79, of Jones, MI. formerly of Elkhart and Clinton, IN., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 24, 1930 in Clinton, IN. the daughter of John and Doris Mae (Slaven) White.
Jeanne graduated from Hillsdale High School, IN. and later received her B.A. and Masters at Indiana State and Indiana University. Jeanne taught first grade elementary for thirty four years before retiring. She was very active at the inception of the Headstart Program in Indiana. She was a member of the Indiana Teachers Association and also Elkhart Valley Church of the Brethren.
Jeanne was an extrodinary person. She received her pilot’s license and loved to fly small aircraft, she also loved to play cards, work on puzzles, and read. Her favorite passion was working with Horses with her family and she was a member of the Indiana Half Arabian Club.
Mrs. Snodgrass was preceded in death by her parents and brother Donald White.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving family, husband, Robert (Bob) Snodgrass, of Jones, MI.; one son, Robert (Rob) (Kathe) Snodgrass, of Vandalia; one sister, Jennie Mundy, of Danville, IN.; one brother, Allen White, of Denver, CO.; three grandchildren, Jakayla, of Leesburg, IN., Derek, of Jones, MI., and Jeff Bostic, of Vandalia, MI. Many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral Services were held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesay, Jan. 27th, 2010 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Rev. Dean Highsee officiating.
Interment was held in Poe Cemetery, Newberg Twp., MI.
