As we get Out and About, we’re always on the lookout for bargains. BOGO, or Buy One, Get One, is a prime example. You simply buy one item at the regular price, and the second item, of same value, is FREE. What a concept! The Three Rivers Lions Club thinks this is a pretty good idea. They thought enough of it to make it one of their fundraisers. The end result is Super Book. This set of three books is filled with coupons that permit one to pay for an item, or service, and receive a second item, or service, with the same value, or less, FREE. A good example would be to pay for one round of golf and get the second round FREE, or buy one meal at a restaurant, and get the second meal FREE. Super Books are available at Lowry’s Books and More, Southern Michigan Bank and Trust, and People’s Federal Savings. All are located right here in Three Rivers. For more Super Book information, or to arrange the purchase of a book, you may call (269)506-2620.
When not conducting fundraisers or working on other community projects, the Three Rivers Lions are always looking for unwanted pairs of eyeglasses. There are numerous locations in the Three Rivers area where you may drop them off:
Lowry’s Books and More
Fred’s Pharmacy
City Hall
Three Rivers Commission on Aging
Three Rivers Health Specialty Clinic
Three Rivers High School (Principal’s Office)
Three Rivers Eagles Club
Sussex Vision
These glasses, frames, and eyeglass cases are gathered and sent to a location where they are cleaned and checked, and then are given to those in need.
I’d like to supplement an item that I mentioned last week concerning the Three Rivers High School Aristocrats. A couple of weeks ago they attended the Detroit Spiritual Festival in Detroit. There were over a dozen schools competing, and they were the smallest of all the schools. Some of the other schools are very high on the list of elite institutions of learning. Not surprising, our Aristocrats brought home First Place in the competition. They also performed in the Winner’s Concert that Saturday evening in Detroit and received numerous standing ovations. I’m in favor of having them perform for the half-time show in next year’s Super Bowl. Kudos, again, to each of you fine young ladies and gentlemen. Maestro Moore, you’ve done a wonderful job honing the talents of these young people.
At the Carnegie Center for the Arts, the Juried Art Show is now in progress and will run through Saturday, February 20. There are 225 pieces on display and Fred Grunert deserves the credit for hanging the show. It is a “must see”, and you have only a week and a half to do so.
Watercolor classes with Joan Hector began last Saturday, February 6 and will continue through Saturday, March 27. Classes are held on Saturday from 10 A.M. until noon. The cost is $80, with any supplies costing extra.
I’m starting this week, and will continue for the next several weeks, to tell you about the advantages of using peroxide over a couple of other solutions. You might want to keep these suggestions and then buy an inexpensive bottle of peroxide.
Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free of germs.
After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.
Clean counters and tabletops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell.
See you Out and About!
