Selma Delle, age 91, of Colon, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Sturgis Hospital.
Selma was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Cincinnati, a daughter of the late John and Karolina (Gubala) Danik.
Selma attended St. Joseph Catholic and Cincinnati Public Schools Girl’s Commercial Vocational High School in Cincinnati.
On July 28, 1943, she married Harry L. Delle in New Orleans, La. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1979.
Selma has lived in Colon since 1949, coming from White Pigeon. She was a homemaker and loved time spent with her family. Before her stroke in 2000, she enjoyed her time spent with friends at M&M Grill and her visits to the Colon library. She also loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She was a 52-year member of the Colon American Legion Auxiliary.
Selma is survived by a daughter, Connie Greeley; three sons, Harry (Kay) Delle, Jack (Diane) Delle and Kenneth (Deborah) Delle, all of Colon; grandchildren Lisa (Shane) Norris of Fulton, John (Shandre) Delle of Sturgis, Eric and Randy Delle of Colon, Sarah (Nathan) Smeltzer of Galesburg, Jenny and Jessica Greeley of Colon, Edwin (Karen) Greeley Jr. of Hebron, Ind., and Teresa Happel and friend Bryan Arno of Coldwater; great-grandchildren Chianne (Dustin) Ganey, Casey and Shana Norris, Chase Delp, Brittney and Devin Johnson, Benjamin and Caden Smeltzer, Paula Ream, Codie and Charlie Burk; Shane, Ryan and Krista Bower; Anthony Maystead, and Kaitlin and Matthew Happel; great-great-grandchildren Anthony Norris and Jack Ganey; niece Clara (Tom) Hull; and great niece Linda.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Martha Duncan; grandchildren Tammy Bower and Allen (Butch) Maystead; and a son-in-law, Ed Greeley.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. Thursday until time of a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Mr. David J. Farrell will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Selma to the Colon American Legion Auxillary (Nursing Scholarship Fund).
Private interment of cremains will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
