Catherine M. Kidd, 95, of Sturgis, passed away early Sunday morning, Feb. 21, 2010, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born July 3, 1914, in Fawn River Township, a daughter of the late Harry A. and Mabel (Blohm) Fisk.
Catherine was a lifelong resident of Sturgis. On Dec. 29, 1945, she married John W. “Jack” Kidd at the Holy Angels Catholic Church Rectory in Sturgis. He died March 24, 1991.
Following her graduation from Sturgis High School with the class of 1931, she began her secretarial career with the Harvey Paper Company. She furthered her career with the K.V.P. and the Brown Paper Companies and also had worked for the Grav-i-Flo Corporation in Sturgis for seven years. She ultimately retired from the James River Corporation following many years of dedicated service.
She was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church where she was for many years involved with the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Neuman-Wenzel Post #73 American Legion Auxiliary and the Business and Professional Women’s club.
Mrs. Kidd is survived by a nephew, Stephen Allen of Grosse Pointe Park; a niece, Judith Persons of Burr Oak; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis, where a funeral Mass celebrating the life of Catherine M. Kidd will begin 11 a.m. The Rev. Father Richard Altine will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the Mass at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
