Scott E. Gotshall, 47, of Las Vegas, and formerly of Burr Oak, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 27, 2010, at his home.
Scott was born April 23, 1962, in Sturgis a son of Todd and Sandra (Miller) Gotshall.
He lived most of his life in the Burr Oak and Sturgis area, graduating from Burr Oak High School with the class of 1980. He attended Glen Oaks Community College and then attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago where he received his degree.
While attending high school and Glen Oaks, he served the community by working for Parker’s Ambulance Service and with his grandparents at Miller’s Grocery Store.
After receiving his mortuary license he returned to Sturgis to work for Rosenberg-Schipper Funeral Home. He later moved to Las Vegas to work for Palm Funeral Home, where he had worked for the last 18 years and was presently employed.
He is survived by his parents, Sandy and Allen Hoopingarner of Burr Oak and Todd (Evelyn) Gotshall of Mebane, N.C.; former wife, Laurie (Fisher) Gotshall of Sturgis; a sister, Jan (Tod) Schipper of Colon; a brother, Rob (Kem) Hoopingarner of Vicksburg; a nephew, Tyler Schipper; nieces Megan Schipper, Regan and Peyton Hoopingarner; special Uncle Wayne (Karen) Miller of Union City; and other aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Cremation will follow. A private family memorial service and burial of cremains will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in memory of Scott to Pet Haven of Sturgis or the animal charity of your choice.
