Eunice (Reed-Frederick) LeClair, age 98, of Sturgis, died late Monday, May 24, 2010, at Thurston Woods, where she had resided the past eight months.
She was born Dec. 27, 1911, in Nappanee, Ind., a daughter of Grover C. and Elizabeth (Peppinger) Reed. Eunice was a homemaker who enjoyed baking for her family. She was a member of the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene and the Order of Eastern Star.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William H. Frederick; a daughter, Virginia Schrock; her first husband, Lindley A. Frederick, whom she married in 1930; her second husband, Russell LeClair, whom she married in 1992; three sisters, Elva Cripe, Esther Barnell and Clara “Betty” Reed; five brothers, Abe, Paul, Russell, Donald and Grover Reed.
Eunice is survived by a son, Robert E. Frederick (Mary Lou) of Three Rivers; a daughter, Pauline Leer (Walt) of Apache Junction, Ariz.; stepdaughters Donna Schaner (Rick) of Pentwater and Chris Shea (Robert) of Puyallup, Wash.; stepsons, Daniel LeClair (Karen)of Williamsburg and Rick LeClair (Tami) of Scottville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a sister, Esther Barnell of Goshen, Ind.; and two brothers, James Reed of Bradenton, Fla., and Marvin Reed of Brownsville, Tenn.
Cremation has been conducted. An interment of ashes will take place later. Memorials will be directed to the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements were by the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel of Three Rivers.
