Scott Blair Durren, age 48, of Madison, WI., formerly of Three Rivers, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at his home unexpectedly. He was born in Three Rivers, MI. the son of Rex Wells and Karen Lee (Coney) Durren.
Scott graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1980. He received his undergrad from James Madison College in 1988 and in 1997 received his Masters Degree from MSU and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi. He also received the Outstanding Alumunist Award in 1993.
Scott was a graduate of the Michigan Political Leadership Program in 2000. He was a paralegal specialist for the U.S. Attorney General’s Office and Program Coordinator for the A.D.A. He later became the Executive Director for the Wisconsin Statewide Independent Living Counsel and served on numerous boards and advocacy groups for the disabled. Scott was also skilled at writing grants for helping people with disabilities obtain employment.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents and infant siblings.
He leaved to cherish his memory his loving family, one brother, Dylan (Sandra) Durren, of Three Rivers, and his daughter, Shelly (Rick) Currier, of Decatur, MI., their children, Savannah and Austin Gonzoles, and Autumn Currier; one uncle March (Ann) Durren; one aunt, Pamela (Gregory) Lusk, of Three Rivers; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Scott’s Life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Jon Deily officiating.
