Keith E. Barnell, 72, of Portage, died Friday, July 2, 2010, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 10, 1937, in Scott, Ind., a son of Everett C. and Venona L. (Christner) Barnell. He was a resident of Portage for eight years, coming from North Carolina and Fort Wayne, Ind., and spent his early life in Scott.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was manager of the die shop for Ray Wire in Fort Wayne and North Carolina.
He was a member of the Scott United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Barnell of Radcliffe, Ky., and Eric Barnell of Savannah, Ga.; several grandchildren; a brother, Stanley (Loretta) Barnell of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Barnell.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Father James O’Leary of Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Parchment officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
