Lauretta Evenhouse, 77

Lauretta Mae Evenhouse, 77, of Three Rivers, went to be with her Lord Wednesday evening, Sept. 1, 2010 at the Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo. She was born on Dec. 14, 1932 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Laurence and Henrietta (Schiebergen) Middlebush.

Lauretta was united in marriage to the love of her life Robert Evenhouse on July 13, 1956. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2005. She was also preceded by her parents.

Lauretta was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was very active as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and with the Afghan Ladies. Lauretta spent many years teaching kindergarden through third grade in the Kalamazoo School system. She and Bob during their later years moved into the Woodbrook Apartments where Lauretta managed and looked after all of her neighbors.

She truly loved her family and friends and was very thankful to God for his plan for her wonderful life, marriage, and family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Rhonda (Bill) Severeid of Elkhart, Ind., three sons, Robert (Pat) of Constantine, Ronald (Jan) of Three Rivers, and Randy (Holly) Evenhouse of Schoolcraft; 12 grandchildren, Sarah, Mary, Bethany, Chris, Robert, Bryan, Matthew, Jessie, Ashley, Jennifer, Kristina and Morgan; four special sisters-in-law, Clara, Judy, Nancy and Darlene; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barb Troyer and Jerri (Jake) Dykstra, and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight, Sept. 3 at the Hohner Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Jon Deily officiating.

Interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be donated to the Kairos Dwelling Hospice Home, or the charity of one’s choice.
