David Miller, 72

David L. Miller, 72, Sturgis, passed away Friday morning, Sept. 17, 2010, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

He was born Feb. 11, 1938, in Sturgis, a son of the late Jess and Della (Haymaker) Miller.

David had resided in Sturgis his entire life. In February 1972, he married Beverly (Wheeler) Myers in Howe, Ind.

He retired from Grumman Olson in Sturgis following 14 years of employment. He also was a truck driver for Gateway Steel and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Following his retirement, he drove part-time for Parma Tube in Sturgis.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #1314 and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and earning the rank of Private First Class.

David enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and was a fan of NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; six stepsons, Ron (Anita) Myers of Columbus, Ga., Terry Lee Myers of Phoenix City, Ala., Rick (Evelyn) Myers of Sturgis, Chris (Susan) Milligan of Sturgis, Scott Myers of Denver and Randy (Sadrina) Myers of Anaheim, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Marchand of Centreville; four brothers, Howard Miller of Sturgis, Albert (Shirley) Miller of Sturgis, Gary Miller of Three Rivers and James Miller of Norfolk, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald Miller and Harold Miller; and two sisters, Martha Marchand and Margarite Busz.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time.

The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in David Miller’s memory consider the charity of one’s choice.
