Shirley Conley, 73

Shirley Marie (Bauder) Conley, age 73, of Orland, Ind., and formerly of Sturgis, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, Oct. 4, 2010 at her home.

She was born July 5, 1937, in Sturgis, a daughter of the late Everton and Wilma (Byers) Bauder.

Shirley had resided in Orland since 1974, coming from Sturgis, where she had lived most of her life.

In 1974, she married Ernest Pippinger in Howe, Ind. He preceded her in death.

She retired from Sturgis Molded Products in Sturgis following several years of dedicated employment. She had also worked at Doerr Products in Burr Oak and was a dedicated mother and grandmother.

Shirley was a member of the Potter’s House Church in Sturgis and the St. Joseph County Genealogy Society. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, reading her Bible and other books and her many house plants. Shirley cherished gathering with loved ones and time spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Christine Marie Woodworth of Ontario, Ind.; three sons, Junior Leroy Conley of Rome City, Ind., Douglas Lee Conley of Bronson and Thomas Eugene Conley of Orland; five grandsons, Jared (Jackie Sizemore) Conley of Wolcottville, Ind., Dustin Conley of Las Vegas, Matthew Pontius of Bronson, Andrew Pontius of Sturgis and Joshua Gibson of Ontario, Ind., two great granddaughters, Lillian Baird and Allyson Conley both of Wolcottville; a sister, Mildred Stevens of Sturgis; three sisters-in-law, Mary Bauder of Coldwater, Judith Bauder of Sturgis and Dorothy Bauder of Coldwater; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Greta, Dorothy, Violet and Betty; six brothers, Harvey, David, Rex, Raymond, Leonard and Ivan; a nephew; a great-niece; and five great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Shirley Marie Conley will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Potter’s House Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Brian Bowen will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
