Garth A. Greenwald, age 60, of Leonidas, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at his home.
Garth was born Aug. 14, 1950, in Reed City, a son of the late Walter and Louise (Sims) Greenwald.
Garth had lived all of his life in the Leonidas and Colon area, graduating from Colon High School with the class of 1968.
On Dec. 17, 1977, he married Debra Schwartz in Three Rivers.
Garth had been employed at Vanguard LLC in Colon since 1975.
Garth attended Pine Grove Mennonite Church in Battle Creek. He loved fishing and hunting. He also loved to watch the kids play sports.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Greenwald, of Leonidas; three children, Jamie (Dr. Mark) Warner of Allegan, Lance (Julia Berry Greenwald of Greenville, S.C., and Travis (Dr. Amber Norris) Greenwald of Colon; a beautiful granddaughter, Emily Nightingale of Allegan; several nieces and nephews; and the Schwartz clan.
Garth was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Duane Greenwald.
The family will receive relatives and friends from
6-8 p.m. today at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. A graveside service and burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leonidas Township Cemetery in Leonidas. A memorial service celebrating the life of Garth A. Greenwald will then take place at noon at Factoryville Bible Church, with Pastor Tom Schwartz officiating, with a luncheon to follow in the fellowship hall.
If desired, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Garth to Mennonite Disaster Services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
