Donald Paul Wyant Sr.age 64, of Sherwood, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, unexpectedly at his home.
Don was born in Jay County, Ind., Oct. 15, 1946, a son of the late Chelsea and Margaret (Rudy) Wyant.
Don had lived most of his life in the Colon area, graduating from Colon High School with the Class of 1964. He had lived at his present address for more than 35 years.
On June 26, 1965, he married Nadine Broker in Leonidas.
Don had worked for General Motors in Kalamazoo for over 30 years, retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed going to the Indianapolis 500 and loved time spent with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Nadine Wyant of Sherwood; five children, Donald (Robin) Wyant Jr. of Simpsonville, SC, Rachael (John) Dudley of Colon, Robyn Kernagis of Sturgis, Roxanne (Mark) Ultz of White Pigeon and Jonathon Wyant at home; 12 grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth (Judy) Wyant of Sherwood; two sisters, Anne Carmichael of Elkhart, Ind., and Janice (Tom) Jalosky of Chesterfield, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. A funeral service celebrating the life of Donald P. Wyant will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. Cremation will follow.
If desired the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Don to either the Colon Food Bank or the Colon Elementary Library. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
