Nettie McGill, 87

Nettie Harriet McGill, 87, of Sturgis, passed away Nov. 6, 2010, at Birches Adult Foster Care in Leonidas, Mich.

Nettie was born March 17, 1923, in Colon, the daughter of Irvin and Eunice (Snook) Wagner. She graduated from Colon High School.

She married Carl McGill in 1942. He preceded her in death March of 2000.

She was a member of the American Legion Lady’s Auxiliary in Colon, the Eastern Star #91 in Colon and the 1st Methodist Church in Sturgis. Nettie was a homemaker, enjoyed spending time with her loving family and spending winters in Engelwood, Fla., with her husband Carl.

Surviving is a son, Tom (Marilyn) McGill of Schoolcraft; two grandsons Ryan (Becky) McGill of Schoolcraft and Patrick McGill of Wauwatosa, Wisc.; three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Trenton and Carly McGill of Schoolcraft; a brother, John Wagner of Colon; plus a special and loyal friend Ellen Bronstetter of Sturgis.

She was preceded in death by a son, Terry McGill in 1982; six brothers James, George , Robert, Earl, Irvin and Harry Wagner; three sisters, Beatrice Schull, Murill Hovarter and Pearl Skeels.

At her request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Nov. 20, 2010, at First Methodist Church 200 Pleasant St., Sturgis, with Rev Deb Johnson officiating. Memorial contribution may be made to the church.
