Frances Miller, 88

Frances J. Miller, 88, of White Pigeon, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo suddenly of natural causes.

She was born in Three Rivers on May 7, 1922 the daughter of William and Clara (Noles) Stuebgen, and resided in White Pigeon and the Three Rivers area of St. Joseph County all of her life. She graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1940.

She was first married to Lester “Tater” Tase; he died in 1984. On July 16, 1986 in Centreville, she married Sharron L. Miller.

She was employed in the office for Continental Can in Three Rivers, and for the Treasurer’s Office at the Centreville Courthouse.

Fran was known for singing at bluegrass festivals. She played the organ and accordion. She enjoyed traveling, camping, stock car racing, dancing and hunting.

She is survived by her husband, Sharron L. Miller of White Pigeon; two daughters, Sandy and Dwight “Butch” Ames of Mendon, Sharon and Wayne Swartz of Marcellus; stepdaughter, Diane Babcock of White Pigeon; stepson, Eldon (Susan) Miller of White Pigeon; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Olive Kline of Three Rivers; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; two sons, John Tase in 1977 and James Tase in 2009; daughter, Sheila Polland in 1999.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 30 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor David Farrell officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the White Pigeon Township Library. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
