John Paul Jones, 84, of Sturgis, Mich., died Dec. 4, 2010, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis following a six-month illness.
He was born July 15, 1926, in Wabash, Ind., a son to Osmond Paul and Inez (Estes Miles) Jones.
He was a graduate of Fort Wayne High School and attended Purdue University and was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corp.
In December 1946 in Fort Wayne, Ind., he married Glenna Louise Abbott. She died in January 1991. In January 1994, he married Jean Compton in Bradenton, Fla. She died in July 2009.
He had lived in Fort Wayne, Ind. until 1949, White Pigeon from 1949 until 1992 and in Bradenton, Fla., and Sturgis since 1992.
He was an office executive for G&A Truck Lines in White Pigeon for 21 years and Sturgis Iron and Metal for 22 years, retiring in 1992.
He attended the First United Methodist Church in White Pigeon and Bradenton, was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge, all in Bradenton.
Surviving are a son, Eric (Lynn) Jones; daugther, Karen (Jim) Truckenmiller; five grandchildren, Jenny (Jon) Stasiuk, Dan (Erica) Truckenmiller, Amy (Mike) Kaiser, Mandy (Brian) Merrick and Carrie (Sanjeev) Musalimadugu; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at the White Pigeon Township Cemetery with Pastor Mike Wicks of the First Presbyterian Church of Sturgis officiating. Burial will be in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
