Deo C. Miller, age 88, of Sherwood, passed away Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, in Coldwater.
Deo was born March 9, 1922, in Matteson Township, a son of the late Ray and Edna (Farrand) Miller.
He had lived all of his life in the rural Sherwood area, graduating from Sherwood High School with the class of 1939.
On June 4, 1949, he married Marda E. Walker in Colon. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2008.
Deo was a well-known area farmer, and was active in the Branch County Farm Bureau and had served on the Branch County FSA board for many years. He was a member of the Colon United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Allen (Anne) Miller of Cincinnati and Kevin (Patti) Miller of Sherwood; five grandchildren, Erin, Meghan and Kelli Miller, all of Cincinnati, Lindsay (Wesley) Wriston of Royal Oak and Jason Miller of Dillon, Colo.; a brother, Wilfred (Priscilla) Miller of Colon; two sisters, Lois Hostetler of Colon and Lamoine (Robert) Rank of Ludington; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Marda, and his parents, Deo was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ruth (Annis) Miller; and two sisters, Opal Bell and Beth Shumaker.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Deo C. Miller will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Colon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donald Graham officiating.
If desired, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Deo to either the Colon United Methodist Church or the Branch County COA Meals on Wheels. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
