Alan Ward Kinsey, age 49, of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Friday morning January 14, 2011 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
He was born September 23, 1961 in Sturgis, Michigan a son of Walter and Della (Davidson) Kinsey.
Alan had resided most of his life in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class or 1980. He continued his education at Glen Oaks Community College in Centreville where he received an Associate Degree. Alan had also lived in the Elkhart and Goshen, Indiana area.
He had been employed as a truck driver with Miller’s Special Delivery Service in South Bend for several years until he was forced to retired due to health reasons.
Alan loved strategy board games and war games. He attended the Sturgis Wesleyan Church and had been involved with the Sturgis Toy Run for many years.
He is survived by his mother, Della Bassett of Sturgis, two brothers, Walter (Jean) Kinsey of Winston Salem, North Carolina and Robert (Elizabeth) Kinsey of Sturgis, 11 nieces and nephews and 7 great nieces, nephews and special friends, Skip and Judy Harrington of Colon.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Dianna Kinsey in 2004.
In accordance with Alan’s wishes his body has been donated to Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan for anatomical studies. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Great Hall of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sturgis a memorial service celebrating the life of Alan Kinsey will begin at 6:00 P.M. at the church followed by a meal and continued time of fellowship. The Rev. Steve Bean will officiate.
