Roger Vaughn, 58

Roger Duane Vaughn, 58, of Sturgis, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday evening, March 8, 2011, at his home with his family at his side.

He was born Oct. 20, 1952, in Angola, Ind., a son of the late Clifford and Veda Irene (Gangwer) Vaughn.

Roger had resided in Sturgis since 1971, coming from Angola. On Sept. 19, 1981, he married Susan Mann at the Sturgis Bible Chapel in Sturgis.

He was a talented welder by trade and had last worked at Vanguard Industries in Colon. For many years he had worked in the fast food industry and had held manager positions at Burger King and Wendy’s both in Sturgis.

Roger is a member of the Community Bible Church in Sturgis and had attended the Sturgis Bible Chapel for many years.

He enjoyed model railroading, fishing, hunting, computers and most anything dealing with electronics.

He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Susan; one daughter, Shalyn Vaughn of Sturgis; two sons, Nicholas Vaughn and KJ Vaughn, both of Sturgis; one brother, David (Kathy) Vaughn of Augusta; four sisters, Norma Long of Butler, Ind., Wilma (Dean) Wathen of Athens, Sharon (Marvin) Weirich of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Marlene Keeslar of Angola; close special friends, Judy and Jack Tracy of Brentwood, Tennessee and Gerry, Laury Simms of St. Mary’s, Georgia and Sherissa Smoker of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank Vaughn and Clifford Vaughn; and two infant sisters.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Roger Vaughn will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Community Bible Church, 223 N. Maple St. in Sturgis. Pastor Steve Wisler will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak.
