Geraldine Erma Hackenberg, age 88, of Three Rivers, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Porter Hills Assisted Living Center, Grand Rapids.
Geraldine was born on March 25, 1923, in Florida, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Neva (Patrick) Baker.
Geraldine graduated from Florida Ohio High School in 1941.
On Jan. 28, 1941 she was united in marriage to Mr. Roy Hackenberg. Together, she and Roy were very active in the Three Rivers community. Geri was past president of the Sauganash Country Club Auxiliary as well as the Three Rivers Jaycee’s Auxiliary. She was an active member of the T.R. Elks, Woman’s Club, American Legion Hice-Shutes Post #170 Auxiliary, and Three Rivers Hospital auxiliary. Geri was also active as a den mother for the Boy Scouts and Leader of the Brownie Scouts, taught Sunday school at the Presbyterian church where she was a member and sang in the church choir.
Mrs. Hackenberg was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and four sisters.
Geri leaves to cherish her memory, her loving family, husband, Roy L. Hackenberg, of Three Rivers; three daughters, Linda (Frederick) Hammond, of Ann Arbor, Ann (Spencer) Curtis, of Nokesville, Va., and Susan (Howard) Cook-Hackenberg, of Newaygo; two sons, Larry (Becky) Hackenberg, and James (Cynthia) Hackenberg, both of Three Rivers; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hohner Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Jon Deily officiating.
Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery.
