Grace Van Wormer age 94, formerly of Colon, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011, in Kalamazoo.
Grace was born Dec. 10, 1916, in Colon, a daughter of the late George and Lilly (Thrams) Schellhous.
She had lived most of her life in Colon, graduating from Colon High School with the class of 1936.
On Feb. 16, 1944, she married Clyde Van Wormer in Centreville. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1993.
Grace was a homemaker and had worked at the Colmer Company in Colon for several years.
She is survived by her caregiver and granddaughter, Tonya Hernandez of Kalamazoo; three great-grandchildren, Amber (Norb) Broins of Sturgis, Nicole (Phillip) Martz of Decatur, Ind., and Tyler Russey of Three Rivers; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jennie Birch of Leonidas and Lilly Misner of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son in 1955; a daughter, Diane Borgert; two sisters, Maxine Schellhous and Mary Cripps; and two brothers, George and Lloyd Schellhous.
A graveside memorial service and burial of ashes will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon, with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating.
