Arlo Dean James, age 77, of Three Rivers, went peacefully home to the Lord on Saturday, April 12, 2011, from Riverview Manor in Three Rivers.
He was born in St. Joseph County on Sep. 2, 1933, the son of the late Francis D. and Grace (Timm) James Sr. He was a graduate of Marcellus High School and later attended what is now known as Cornerstone University. Arlo was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. He was married to Dorothy Crotser in Mendon on Oct. 18, 1958, and they have resided west of Three Rivers since their marriage. Arlo was a machinist at Armstrong Machine Works, where he worked for almost 40 years. He was an active member of the Howardsville Gospel Chapel, and served as the Sunday School Superintendent.
Arlo is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two children, Brenda (Scott) Hicks and Roger (Karen) James all of Three Rivers; two grandchildren, Erin (Justin) Blair and Candice Hicks; two great-grandchildren, Esther and Lucas Blair; and by two brothers, Francis D. James, Jr and Carroll L. James.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel in Three Rivers. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday April 20, 2011, at the Howardsville Gospel Chapel with Pastor Kirby Johnson and Rev. Steve Weiandt officiating. Burial will be in Poe Cemetery.
