Michael Bruce Sullivan, age 63, of Centreville, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born in Ionia, MI on October 27, 1947, the son of Elwood and Esther (Beachum) Sullivan. Michael graduated from Centreville High School in 1965.
Continuing his education at Alma College, he studied Chemistry, Physics, and Philosophy. It was there that he discovered his love of journalism, working as Production Manager at the school newspaper “The Daily Collegian”. He then worked for Himes Printing at State College, and in 1981 he bought and operated “The Centre Democrat Paper” in Pennsylvania. At the paper, he met Deborah Kay Smith, whom he later married on August 8, 1988 in Centreville. After moving to Centreville in 1987, he worked at LaGrange Publishing until 1991. Michael then became a tax consultant, working for H&R Block in Three Rivers until 2010. Michael enjoyed reading, computers, designing web sites, railroad research, and photography.
Surviving Michael are his wife Deborah Sullivan and son Sean Michael Kenneth Sullivan, both of Centreville, sister-in-law Patricia (Norman) Lacasse, Harrisburg, PA, brother-in-law James (Paula) James (Paula) Smith, Spring Hills, PA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Relatives and friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville, where Religious Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Reverend David Peterson of Centreville Baptist Church will officiate. Cremation will follow services and private interment of ashes will be at Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Family.
