Charley M. Hartman, 87, of Jones, passed away Tuesday evening, April 26, 2011 in Three Rivers Health following a short illness.
Charley was born May 11, 1923 at Leesburg, Mich. the son of Charles J. and Hazel M. (Wahl) Hartman. On April 11, 1953 at Sturgis he married Wava M. Troeger who survives.
He had been a resident of Newberg Township most of his life. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Three Rivers. He formerly was employed at American Coach in Cassopolis and later at Wells Manufacturing in Three Rivers.
Surviving besides his wife, Wava, are two sons, Charles J. Hartman of Lansing and Ray M. (Julie) Hartman of Niles; four grandsons, Eric, Ryan, Tyler and Evan Hartman; one sister, Blanche McKee of Three Rivers; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; and nieces and nephews. One sister and five brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 30 in the Mater Funeral Home, Marcellus with Pastor Alan Stadelman officiating. Burial will follow in Poe’s Cemetery, Jones.
The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Three Rivers Health Hospice, or the Newberg Ambulance Service.
